posijeff I love the purity of these songs and they come across great Live! These cuts and ones from Stoudamire are some of my favorite summertime, semi acoustic jams, right up there with Barbara Ann!
Thanks Kevin! -Jeff from MKE

about

For the past 15 years, I have been staring at this little clear box of minidiscs, some labeled, some not, that has sat on a shelf on my desk but I could not find the blue Sony MZ-N707 Minidisc recorder I bought in the early 2000s to play them on.

That is, until about a month ago when I went snooping through old boxes I had in storage. I found my Minidisc player and after I replaced the batteries, it played as though I had not let it sit, abandoned for the past 15 years.

I started listening back to the minidiscs and found mostly weird demos of solo and 7Seconds songs, along with episodes of my first podcast.

Then, I stumbled onto some audio of me performing live, as the special guest, of an open mic my friend Grub Dog hosted here at Old Ironsides in Sacramento back in 2001. I was playing electric guitar and had a crack backing band (Cary Rodda on bass, Mark Harrod on drums and harmonies and David Houston on Tambourine). I was shocked by how good it all sounded, both the band and the actual quality of the recording.

I transferred it onto my studio computer and started EQing and messing with it and I love what I was able to come up with and decided to release it as a "live album" here on my Bandcamp.

All of the songs were songs released on my album, 'Heaven's Near Wherever You Are' that had been released a few months prior but somehow, I love the energy of them here about 100 times more than what was captured on the album itself.

I hope you dig it,
